Founded in 1971, St. James School delivers an accelerated academic program.

ACCREDITATION

The school is fully accredited by the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools and is recognized by the Texas Education Agency.  The school is licensed by the Texas Department of Human services, is a member of the Texas Association of Non Profit Schools and is recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools.

ENROLLMENT

Students may enroll in Pre-K (3 year olds) through 8th grade.  The school is divided into four mixed age learning communities: the Lower Pod (ages 3 and 4), the Middle Pod (Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade), the Upper Pod (3rd, 4th and 5th grade) and the Middle School (6th, 7th and 8th grade).  The average class size is 16.

OPERATING HOURS

The school is open from 7:00am to 6:00pm. We follow a traditional 175-180 day school calendar. The school year, from mid-August through May, includes a Thanksgiving Recess, Christmas Break, Spring Break and several holiday weekends.

EXTENDED DAY

The school day ends at 3:30 pm and after school care is provided until 6:00pm at no additional cost.  After school, students can participate in the SJS Athletic Program, including basketball, volleyball and track.  Students can also participate in the SJS Fine Arts Program, including piano, band, percussion, drama and dance lessons, on a first to register basis.  Students who do not participate in these programs are encouraged to complete homework assignments during the after school program.
