A Place of Their Own

Students should have their own private study area within the home.  This area should be located away from TV sets, radios and other distractions.  This area should have good lighting, a clean flat work surface, and comfortable seating.  Good study habits begin with a good study area!

Read a Good Book Lately?

We strongly encourage you to continue reading aloud to your child as well as encouraging them to read to you daily.  One good book recommended by Scholastic "Parent & Child" magazine is Shades of Black: A Celebration of Our Children by Sandra L. Pinkney, Scholastic, Inc., 2000 ($14.95).
