OUR MISSION
St. James School, an outreach ministry of St. James Episcopal Church, is an exemplary educational institution created to provide an accelerated academic program within a nurturing Christian environment. Recognizing that each child is created in the image and likeness of God, students are encouraged to discover and attain their full personal and academic potential while developing individual strengths and a sense of social responsibility. It is our mission to instill in students a life long interest in learning, a sense of self-worth, and strong Christian values.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
At St. James, our goal is to provide the best achievable education for our students. We challenge our students intellectually within an environment designed to support and encourage their academic and personal growth. In the classroom, we teach students to reason carefully, to think analytically and to communicate clearly. Outside the classroom, we encourage our students to participate in a wide variety of co-curricular programs. We strive to promote each student's expression of ideas, questions and perceptions. Since we know that your children will continue to learn long after they leave us, we try to give them the necessary tools and to awaken in them the desire to pursue learning for the rest of their lives. We continually seek the proper balance between students respecting the knowledge and experience of their teachers and their questioning of established wisdom as they seek to go beyond us and fashion new wisdom of their own.
Realizing that students, families and teachers must work together to provide the best possible education for children, we also foster a strong family spirit and close communication among the various groups of the school community. Because we know that parental involvement positively influences a child's education, we invite parents to participate in the life of the school in many ways.

OUR GOALS FOR OUR STUDENTS
In the classroom, we encourage our students to participate in a wide variety of co-curricular programs. We strive to:
- Promote each student's expression of ideas, questions, and perceptions
- Provide the tools necessary to awaken in them the desire to pursue learning for the rest of their lives
- Develop critical thinking skills
- Promote the fine arts and expression of creativity
- Increase self-esteem and self-direction.
St. James is the place for your child to grow and mature in a creative and innovative environment. St. James allows each student to develop a strong sense of individual accomplishment. These are our goals and aspirations. We hope they are yours as well. |
